ENS Monthly Roundup: May 2023

· 6 min read
chosen.eth

The month of May was nothing short of exciting, not for the market..but for the integrations and projects who integrated with ENS. Just to name a few of the big ones: Ledger, Uniswap, Decentraland, PancakeSwap, and Farcaster. This list encompasses some of the biggest players within Web3 and this is just to name a few. On the other side of things, there was a slower pace when it came to registrations and overall actions within ENS for May…possible meme coins continue to hold the attention of most. There were 16,351 registrations this month compared to the previous month being at 27,149. People continued to set avatars for their names as this has become a bigger part of the community initiative to creatively represent a domain.

Unlike past months, it would be irresponsible for me to change the subject and highlight other things that happened this month. The sheer amount of integrations coming from some of the biggest names within crypto and the web3 ecosystem made HUGE announcements for ENS. These integrations seemingly pave the way for ENS to easily become a mainstream, automatic action for new users to take when onboarding into the web3 ecosystem. Here’s some of my thoughts when it comes to these integrations, who, and how I expect this to play out. First up, we have Uniswap..possibly the de facto king DEX. This ENS integration is great because Uniswap users aren’t necessarily “domain fanatics”. This onboards a vast majority of crypto users who may not have understood how ENS can simplify their lives.

To finish the highlights of integrations, we have Worldcoin. This is a project that sets out to revolutionize the financial industry allowing anyone to be a part of the world economy on the digital scale, and have a digital identity to back them up. Worldcoin is backed by the founder of OpenAI, Sam Altman. These are the types of projects that bring the ENS protocol to people who have very likely no experience when it comes to using ENS domains and the capabilities it can offer. Seeing Worldcoin use ENS as a part of their online application to easily transfer money P2P will only fuel more projects to take this step.

🤑 Top Sales

As for top sales this month, we’ve got another change that can keep all of us looking forward to what might happen in the bull market:

  1. 088.eth - 28.88 ETH
  2. roblox.eth - 20 wETH
  3. 0x8200.eth - 16.66 ETH
  4. curvefi.eth - 16.52 ETH
  5. guccifit.eth - 13.89 wETH

🔟 Top Ten

The top ten this month is almost identical as it was last month, almost all 3D domains. Just like last month, there were a few names that seemed to stand out from all the digits, here’s just a few of those:

  1. roblox.eth - sold for 20 wETH (this name needs no explanation)
  2. star.eth - sold for 11.08 ETH (sniped on premium, great name)
  3. team.eth - sold for 8 wETH (great price for unlimited use cases)

(small note that olivia.eth selling for 5 ETH isn’t a steal but for that price, there’s still tons of room for both sides of deal to be happy).

Similar to last month, and now a Kodex ENS Monthly Roundup staple, we found you some gems 💎 similar to those of the top monthly sales. Below are a few that we find interesting and still available to be registered:

info

The "Similar Search" is powered by Kodex’s custom natural language model, which we are constantly improving to make it better at finding great ENS domains.

note

(in this similar search, we used the following words to find unregistered domains: roblox, team, olivia, star, rover, recon, florence, and classic ).

🙏 Your Saving Grace

When it comes to Grace Period, the ENS power users flourish. Below are just a couple of names found using similar search that are currently on grace:

  • 2022.eth - very significant year in the ENS history book.
  • mca.eth - last sold for 0.56 ETH.
  • tri.eth - last sold for .30 ETH
  • godwin.eth - first name and last name, this one is already on premium.
  • pumps.eth - the nft pumps are getting out of hand, on premium.

🌀 Random Spin

Similar to last month, below are some domains that are randomly chosen throughout multiple different categories based on Kodex’s similar search mechanism:

  • examines.eth - my doctor examines at least five nostrils a day.
  • adjoining.eth - would you like to have adjoining rooms or no?
  • debating.eth - there's going to be a lot of this going on over the next few months.
  • exiles.eth - the sultan of fakeland exiles three people every year.

🎬 Conclusion

To end this month's roundup, I just want to touch on the integrations and how good it is to see these things happening..in a BEAR market. See the likes of Ledger, Uniswap, PancakeSwap, Decentraland, and many many others integrate with ENS and allow their users to not only bring their existing names into their applications but new users who don’t own a single ENS domain, acquire their first with ease. As more and more of these projects, companies, and coins add support for ENS, the masses will flow. ENS has established itself as the go-to naming system for the web3 ecosystem and it’s only going to exponentially grow when the bull market returns. Maybe one day we’ll see Twitter integrate ENS names, something that would change the game entirely. It’s not something that is outside of happening as even Elon transitions his new “X” app into the web3 ecosystem.
